Sources and credits
Heed the Prophets plays talks given by apostles and prophets while they served: as an apostle, in the First Presidency, or as President of the Church. This is where each part comes from.
Journal of Discourses
The talks are from the Journal of Discourses, 26 volumes of sermons reported in shorthand and printed in Liverpool between 1854 and 1886. The printed volumes are in the public domain. Heed the Prophets holds the 1,349 talks in them given by apostles and prophets, from 1839 to 1886.
Talk details and the Read ↗ links
The list of talks, with each one’s speaker, date, place and volume and page, follows BYU’s Scripture Citation Index, and each talk’s Read ↗ link opens its text there. The Scripture Citation Index is hosted by Brigham Young University, which isn’t connected with this site.
The narration
The narration is read aloud from the printed text by computer-generated voices (neural text-to-speech from Microsoft Azure AI Speech). It is a synthetic voice, not the speaker’s own and not a copy of it. Each speaker is given one stock voice so you can tell them apart, and every recording begins by saying it’s narrated by an AI voice. Some names and places have been corrected by hand; please report any the voice still gets wrong.
Scripture on the home page
